Heavy rains expected in Muscat from 4pm till midnight

Oman Meteorology has said that heavy rains are expected in Muscat from 4pm till midnight on Sunday with thunderstorms. Speaking to the Observer, the met department added that the trough of low pressure is all over the northern parts of Oman and the chances of moderate to heavy rains with occasional thundershowers, associated with fresh wind and hail will continue for the next 24 hours.


The cities mentioned by the met department to be affected by thunderstorms are Sur, Saham. Qalhat Adam Ibra  Fahud Bahla, Shinas Mhada, Yaaloni, Port Sultan Qaboos, Bidiya (thunderstorm), Mudhaibi, Duqm Airport, Rustaq , Ibri, Saiq Sunaynah, Samail, Muscat, Nizwa, Haima, Amerat, Quriyat, Hamra, Izki, Bidbid, Mahout, Masirah, Jabal Shams, Salalah Port, Bawsher, Muscat City, Qarn Alam , Khaburah, Liwa , Ras al Hadd, Suwaiq, Buraimi, Sohar, Khasab Port , Khassab Airport , Dibba and Yanqul.


There have been reports of people stranded in the wadis , medical evacuations and building collapses.
